7. Location
I have now been here for two weeks and I really like the location. The day of arrival, I had dinner at the Kingston Hotel because I remembered seeing it just before I turned into my street for the first time and I really liked it. I think it took less than 10 minutes to walk there. In the light of day, I discovered three more pubs and a bar in the other direction all within a 1 - 2 minute walk.
Within the same distance I have six exercise options! Yoga, dancing, pole-dancing or the gym. Yes, there are three gyms! I haven't made up my mind which to join but I know that I won't be doing Crossfit. Everyone I've met who does crossfit are far too serious about exercise for my liking. I haven't checked out hiit republic yet but I am thinking that I might join Lime because it is the same colour as my car. (Lisa Y, I know you think I should do pole-dancing but I just can't spin.)
Mum told me to see someone about my red nose before I came here. I got a referral to a dermatologist from the Dr. in Melbourne. It was easy to find. Just a two-minute walk, next to the book shop, across the square from the pubs. (Mum, he said it was rosacea and gave me some cream. I think it's working but the bathroom light is different, so it's hard to tell.)
I can post a letter,
go shopping,
drink coffee, eat sushi (and Thai, Japanese, Indian, Vietnamese, Mezze plates...)
get my hair done (I have found three hairdressers within a 5 minute walk and another couple in Manuka - 10 minutes), Joanna, do you have a recommendation?
paint and sip,
find out what's on
The queue is for ice-cream. Don't these people know that you can get a scoop of ice-cream as Supabarn for half the price?????
Within ten minutes, I can walk to the waterfront and the Sunday market at the old bus depot. (The market was smaller than I expected but I liked the craft element.) The Brodbuger place near there and next to the glassworks has burgers that reminded me of Mos Burger, which I loved when I was in Japan.
Great burgers - I had the fish.
When I walked to the foreshore and turned right, I found this and a swimming pool that I could see into from the end at the Woolstore complex.
I did some more exploring to the left as well.
The mushrooms here were very tasty! (I don't know what's up with the alignment - sometimes centre just won't centre - GOOGLE 😡!!!!!!)
I've walked through Talopea park a few times and have seen the churches.
If I like, I can stay home and enjoy the apartment and its lovely courtyard and appliances. (I think there are a lot of doors that open and get in the way but I will probably learn to close them.)
This lovely feature is due to be fixed. There's still room for me to put things 😉
Once I've googled how to use them all, I will probably enjoy them even more 😉
(I'm listening to birds now and the call is unfamiliar. one day I will investigate to try to find out what they are. All together they kind of sound like submerged submarines in the movies).
There's an app you can get which identifies bird calls. Sorry, I don't know what it's called. Love the apartment - compact but spacious.
ReplyDeleteI do like the apartment :)
