8. National Arboretum Canberra

Has everyone apart from me known what an arboretum is?  It's like a botanic garden for trees. Although, it's quite different from the botanic gardens. Mihiri and Angel, who I met at the Jetty on Friday night, both told me I should go, so I did! The views from the Arboretum are worth viewing and there are a few different walking/cycling tracks. The playground looked very creative! I think it would be a nice place to go for coffee and cake if you can find a table by the window. You could also take a picnic and find a spot outside. I think Dad could even find a spot to fly his boomerang. I again felt like there was generally a lack of shade.

Bonsai Garden

So is this what the tea trees at Toot would all look like if they had been trained?

Who would have thought you could have a bonsai sized gum tree? Obviously, somebody did.

Margaret Whitlam Pavilion is the building to the left. It's a function space.
The kite looked a lot closer and clearer to me!
Dad, this is the Lavendar you need.

I walked up this track.

You probably can't tell but this is the biggest floaty seed pod I have seen.

I experimented with panoramic photos on my phone but decided the videos were better.

Time for some education.

I was fascinated by these!

Yes, I made it to the top, even though I made a baby cry at the education point while I took a family photo.

Other living creatures don't seem to be as afraid of people as they are in Melbourne. I wonder what kind of photos I could get if I actually used my camera and all of its settings.

I thought this play ground looked very creative.

This building is what they (Canberrans, not Canberrians) call the village. It is like an information centre with a shop and cafe.
This is a pink silk tree. I thought it was lovely.💖

They have events here too. Janine, are you coming for this?
