5. Manuka

Pronounciation: Mah na ka with the stress on the first syllable!

I walked to Manuka at the weekend to check it out as Jacinta's friends have a shop there. I really thought it would be further away and when I got there, I realised how close it was to the pool and that Patrick and I could have walked one minute in a different direction to find coffee instead of walking ten minutes to the cafe that Google said was open and wasn't and then walking 20 minutes back, but now I know!

Manuka has a village feel to is, as I think Kingston does. I spoke to Mel's friend Troy this evening and he says that every suburb has it's own character, so I will have to get out more!

Manuka has a good concentration of cafes, which are obviously very popular when the sun is out. (I haven't been back to Penny for coffee yet because there are always too many people there. I think they have the best coffee so far.)

I walked through Manuka and chose a buzzing cafe for breakfast.

Mihiri needs to take Cocoa here!

I was excited to find I could walk to Coles. The prices are much better than Supabarn!

I walked through Manuka again and then past it. On the way I booked a massage.

I generally don't like Thai massages. I booked a remedial one. They seemed pleasantly surprised when the health care card went through the hicaps machine and came out with a rebate but I have to say, it was an excellent massage and I will be back!

So, I had an hour to explore before my appointment. I found what I could.

Cranes - These are the only ones I've seen so far.
An antique sign? Can I walk that far?
Woo hoo - a tennis court. Conspicuously quiet.
I love the agapanthus out the front!
This path looks interesting.
What game do they play here?
That path wasn't interesting for long. These are nice apartments.
The green and red looked magnificent through my sun glasses 😎

Pretty trees.
This was the boring looking park including that interesting looking path.

I did a google search to see if I could find a nice park with some shade and off I went.

I liked this street scape and the very modern looking house.

More agapanthus.
Oh, and here is the park that Google chose for me. Really????
So, I took a photo of this nice house beside the park. Everything was so neat!

I will need to look into this.

I bought a small diet coke from MacDonalds on my way to the massage, because I was thirsty, seeing as there seems to be a distinct lack of shade here. I don't know the last time I had a diet coke but I didn't think it was worth $3.75 πŸ˜–The massage felt like it had been an hour when it was only half way through but that was a good thing. I really will go back there! Then I decided to have a closer look at the small streets, arcades and the Cathedral.
Things of Desire. The is the shop that Jacinta's friends have. Too bad it was closed.

I did some shopping at Coles before walking home. This mermaids tail was outside.

another church
The birds here don't seem to mind me getting close to them. I thought this one must have been injured but it eventually flew away.
Just in case you hadn't noticed from the other photos, the nature strips around here are very wide. I think a ride on mower could be in order.
