1. The beginning

What do you do when you are preparing for a job interview and your phone dings and shows you that there is an unusual job to apply for? Well, the computer is already open and the CV is completed, so, obviously, you apply. Well, maybe not you, but me!

And to my great surprise, there was a second interview to prepare for and while walking to the interview for the first job, I found out that I was successful in getting the unusual job and for a good five days, I was over excited. 

I didn't waste any time finding accommodation on flatmate.com and packing boxes from the local facebook group. Everything was going so smoothly. Then it was time to let things go.






The shredder jammed, (thank you dad for looking at it for me) while I was sorting out my papers, so that went, I put my filing cabinet on the hard rubbish because I was too impatient to wait for someone to buy it (sorry Marie) and I got rid of a few other items, such as the ones above. Somehow, in the process, I lost my bras (apart from the one I was wearing and the one in the wash). I'm wondering if Princess found them in one of the drawers of the tall boy she collected?? I might ask her when I get around to it.

Things got messy!




I considered not renting out my place but needed to make sure I could pay my Canberra rent, which was more than I anticipated; It's a long time since I've rented.  And so, the process of making decisions, clearing out, packing up, cancelling services, changing and making plans etc. continued. 

I thought I'd have it done in a week but it took a week and a half. I need that piece of information in the blog to remind myself for next time. I did manage to find Christmas presents for everyone; sometimes it pays to be over prepared😉 The over excitement that I spoke of before, wore off 😰but I was committed! Cleaning the fridge took about 3 hours. I had had no idea how dirty it actually was!

I had thought that I would be able to clean the flat once I'd packed up but time and energy ran out! Thank you mumma for helping!!! Thank you Dave for storing these in your shed.

22. Walking - Red Hill and Mt Ainslie

Feeling inspired by my jaunt to the Blue Mountains at Easter, I decided to get back out into nature.  Red Hill and Mt Ainslie are places that I had heard about in terms of walking/hiking. I don't have hiking shoes, so I walk. At least, I feel like that's what I do. It took me a whole 7 minutes to drive to the Red Hill lookout (south side), where I found myself a walk and about 10 minutes to park the car at the War Memorial to embark on my walk up Mt Ainslie (North side). Both walks involved going up (hill or stairs or both). I much prefer going down as requires minimum energy. However, there is not the same amount of satisfaction when I reach the bottom as there is when I reach the top. The Blue Mountains were far superior. Perhaps I should have done these walks first? It was still nice to be outdoors and in a naturalish environment. Unfortunately, I think these walks helped me to catch a cold as the breeze was chilly, the sun was warm and when going up hill, I felt hot! I sus...

17. National Archives of Australia

The National Archives of Australia were my last sightseeing visit before heading to Darwin via Melbourne for a short holiday. Not too many photos here but it was interesting. I found out that my Letter to John Howard is probably saved somewhere, so not only Dad, with his book of poems, now in possession of the Victorian Library, will be kept as a part of history. It's both good and disturbing that women have been fighting for equality for so long. Did you know? Does anyone remember this? I was interested in this letter about Cloud Seeding because I wondered why it wasn't an option during drought.     An endorsement that the Archives are an interesting place to visit. They also hold events for members.

18. Driving back from Melbourne

I googled all the places that I could stop between Canberra and Melbourne and enjoyed my stops at Gundagai and Holbrook. The weather was nice too! I need to go back to Gundagai on the hour or half hour to visit Kellyland. Gundagai A new character for Play School. Big Ned (instead of Big Ted.. get it?) A wall mural, perhaps still in progress. I visited the museum and replica homestead. Genuine artifacts. Convict train I learned that Ned Kelly's last words were not "Such is life." They were "Ah, Well, I suppose.." Dr. Stuart E. Dawson∗(Monash University) backs it up. Holbrook  The Museum was closed. Get out the magnifying glass 🔍 The dog sits on the Tucker box and the Koala gives out hugs.
